The No. 8 Stanford Cardinal were on the second leg of their two-game road trip against two ranked opponents on Sunday, and ended up splitting the two contests.

They were able to escape Salt Lake City with a win over No. 19 Utah but were unable to keep that momentum going on Sunday against No. 5 Colorado. The Buffaloes ended up winning 71-59 after pulling away in the second half of a game that was just a six-point game at the break.

While Colorado had five players in double figures, Stanford had just three in Kiki Iriafen, Cameron Brink, and Brooke Demetre. It also didn't help that they got just seven points from starters not named Cameron Brink or Kiki Iriafen.

As a team, Stanford shot a horrendous 33.9% from the field with Brink and Iriafen shooting 38% and 29% respectively. Stanford also lost the turnover battle, as they gave the ball up 18 times which Colorado turned into 28 points. The Buffaloes were thriving in the paint against Stanford as well, with 30 points in the paint.

The loss marks Stanford's second on the season and the first time they have lost since early December. They will look to bounce back against Oregon on Friday. As for head coach Tara VanDerveer, she is still just one win away from tying the record for most wins by a college basketball coach.
