Brady Denaburg's Family Helps Him Prepare For Game Day

Syracuse football's new kicker has found consistency thanks in part to his upbringing.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to do something flawlessly? Well, just ask Brady Denaburg.

The Syracuse kicker came into college with the stellar record of 44 for 44 on extra points and since then has kept his perfect streak alive being 14 for 14 this season. With only two weeks under his belt, Denaburg is of only about 40 kickers across the country who has yet to miss a field goal.

Keeping his pre-kick routine and treating a game like practice is how Denaburg is able to stay calm in the high-pressure situations. He learned these lessons from an early age being raised in a household full of athletes.

“Whether it was volleyball outside or football, growing up everything was competitive,” said Denaburg.

That competitive household would end up raising four talented athletes who would all go on to successful careers in their respective sport. His sister, Lexy Denaburg currently plays beach volleyball at UCLA where she is a three-time AVCA All American. If you are not already impressed, his brother, Mason Denaburg, the 2018 first round pick for the Washington Nationals and is currently on the mound for the Fredericksburg Nationals.

“They know exactly what I am going through and I will text them and talk to them all the time," Denaburg said. "They help me prepare mentally which is huge and just having them as my family members is really cool."

When you ask Denaburg his one goal for himself on this team, it is to make an impact. Safe to say being named a captain as only a sophomore is all the reassurance that can be said about the impact he has already made, on and off the field.

Off the field and when he is not watching his siblings play, Denaburg enjoys the simpler things of life. Fishing in his free time and going on the boat when he is back home are what he often looks forward to. As a man of faith which he says plays a significant role in his game, you can find him in church every Sunday.
