Recapping Isaiah Johnson's Performance at NFL Draft Combine

The former Syracuse defensive back is looking to continue his football career.

he two-time Syracuse football captain, Isaiah Johnson, was one of forty-one defensive backs who took the trip to Indianapolis for the NFL combine. Johnson’s natural frame turned eyes as soon as he arrived.

Thursday morning was the start of events for Johnson where he was available for media interviews.

On Friday, Johnson put his abilities to the test amongst the best of the best in college football.

The first event was where Johnson’s athletic ability shined through in finishing in the top eight out of 28 total cornerbacks in the vertical and broad jumps.

However, the run forty-yard dash seemed to be Johnson’s only achilleas heel in running the slowest time out of all the cornerbacks with a time of 4.64 and 4.66 in his two runs.

From there the explosiveness and speed was brought together in testing a series of different passing route drills. The drills had the athletes going through a series of backpedaling, hip switches and cuts before finishing with a pass.

Johnson caught nine out of the ten passing route challenges. Only getting more comfortable the longer he was on the field.

After leaving it all on the turf in Lucas Oil Stadium, Johnson will await his destiny at the NFL Draft that is on April 25th through the 27th.
