Syracuse Drops Third Straight, Falls at #4 Florida State

In this story:
Syracuse's offense was stagnant all afternoon and as the fourth ranked Florida State Seminoles were too much for the Orange in a 41-3 defeat. With the loss, Syracuse drops to 4-3 (0-3) on the season. There is a week off next before Syracuse faces Virginia Tech on the road on Thursday, October 26th.
The first series for each team set the tone for the rest of the game. Syracuse took a sack for a five yard loss on first down on its opening possession. Florida State threw a quick pass to Keon Coleman, who was stripped and the Syracuse defense missed three easy recovery attempts before the Seminoles would jump on the ball. FSU would score a touchdown on that drive.
While the defense continued to provide opportunities to stay or get back in the game, the offense was unable to take advantage. Syracuse only drove into Florida State territory twice with Shrader at the helm, resulting in two field goal attempts. One was made while the other was badly missed. The defense forced three fourth down stops, two other red zone stops that forced field goals, but was burned by big plays. With the game over and backups in, Florida State scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns to push its score above 40.
Garrett Shrader struggled in this one, completing just nine of 21 passes for 99 yards. A bright spot for the offense was the running of LeQuint Allen, who picked up 110 yards on 19 carries.
Jordan Travis was 23-37 for 284 yards with one touchdown and two rushing touchdowns for FSU. Keon Coleman caught nine passes for 140 yards and a score.

Title: Publisher All Syracuse Education: Roberts Wesleyan College Location: Syracuse, New York Expertise: Syracuse basketball, football and recruiting. EXPERIENCE Mike McAllister has been covering Syracuse basketball, football and recruiting for more than a decade. Mike's career started with his own free blog as a way to vent following sporting events. Shortly thereafter, a network of basketball sites called Coast 2 Coast Hoops asked him to run their Syracuse site. That site was called Nation of Orange, and Mike quickly established it as a go-to for Syracuse fans. After running Nation of Orange for several months, a position with the Syracuse site on the Scout network became available. After one year as the recruiting expert with Cuse Nation, he was named the publisher. Mike oversaw the transition from Scout to 247Sports, and ran the site on that network for years. Presented with the opportunity to join one of the biggest names in the sports journalism industry, Sports Illustrated, Mike jumped at the chance. All Syracuse was started from scratch by Mike and the Fan Nation team. It has now become a staple for Orange fans of various sports. Mike has broken news on recruiting, Syracuse basketball and football team information and has established himself as the top recruiting inside in the market. He has appeared on local radio shows, television broadcasts, national radio shows and much more. Mr. McAllister has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting and Information Management from Roberts Wesleyan College.
