Syracuse Interest 'Skyrockets' for Four Star WR Michael Thomas After Junior Day Visit

The Orange made a big impression one of the top wideouts in the 2025 class.

Class of 2025 Toms River (NJ) Donovan Catholic wide receiver Michael Thomas is one of the top prospects in the country. He is rated a four star, top 200 overall recruit by 247Sports, ESPN and On3. Thomas spent the weekend on Syracuse's campus for an unofficial visit.

"The visit was great," Thomas said. "They treated me and Kai (Pritchard) like family. They really talked about the real, not only football, life. They're really into God and Jesus Christ which I love the most about it. Also the basketball game was crazy. Best game to go to in the whole country that day."

Thomas knew most of the coaches from their previous stops as they were recruiting him at their last schools. He was able to connect with wide receivers coach Ross Douglas, with whom he is developing a new relationship.

"I can say coach Ross Douglas is the real deal," Thomas said. "I felt like we connected first time we met. Yesterday he taught me somethings too that can improve my game. He coached in the NFL recently with Bill (Belichick) and the Patriots. So I shouldn't have to explain much. He's a real top of the tier coach."

This was not Thomas' first time in the JMA Wireless Dome, but that does not mean he left unimpressed.

"It still amazes me how loud it can get with half the people there," Thomas said. "Fans are loud, really care about the game and players. The game winner was crazy. Coach Ross Douglas called game before the play happened. Then he hit it, we was hype. I lost video because me and everyone was jumping around, but Kai sent me his video so we're good."

Getting a closer look at the Orange and speaking with the new staff enhanced Thomas' view of Syracuse.

"Syracuse interest skyrocketed for me," Thomas said. "Just based on the coaching staff and it's somewhat close to home."

Thomas says he is hoping to get back up on campus for another visit in the next couple of months, but nothing is set in stone. He does not currently have a timeframe for a decision.
