Syracuse Makes Top Five for Four Star WR Michael Thomas

The Orange is in the mix for one of the top receivers in the 2025 recruiting class.

Class of 2025 Toms River (NJ) Donovan Catholic wide receiver Michael Thomas has trimmed his list to five schools and Syracuse made the cut. The Orange joins Boston College, Illinois, Penn State and Rutgers in the four star receiver's top four. He is rated a four star, top 200 overall recruit by 247Sports, ESPN and On3.

"It's a great program," Thomas said about why the Orange made his top five. "Love the environment and I felt welcomed by everyone.

The 6-2, 185 pounder visited Syracuse in January for Junior Day.

"The visit was great," Thomas said after the visit. "They treated me and Kai (Pritchard) like family. They really talked about the real, not only football, life. They're really into God and Jesus Christ which I love the most about it. Also the basketball game was crazy. Best game to go to in the whole country that day."

Thomas knew most of the coaches from their previous stops as they were recruiting him at their last schools. He was able to connect with wide receivers coach Ross Douglas, with whom he is developing a new relationship.

"I can say coach Ross Douglas is the real deal," Thomas said. "I felt like we connected first time we met. Yesterday he taught me somethings too that can improve my game. He coached in the NFL recently with Bill (Belichick) and the Patriots. So I shouldn't have to explain much. He's a real top of the tier coach."

Getting a closer look at the Orange and speaking with the new staff enhanced Thomas' view of Syracuse.

"Syracuse interest skyrocketed for me," Thomas said. "Just based on the coaching staff and it's somewhat close to home."
