Boots are back on the ground in College Station for the 2023-24 season

Texas A&M guard Tyrece "Boots" Radford announced that he would return to the Aggies men’s basketball team for a super senior season. Radford, a transfer from Virginia Tech, has one more year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 waiver granted by the NCAA.

"Going out like I came," Radford's post on social media read. "Run it back."

A second-team All-SEC player, Radford averaged 13.3 points, 2.4 assists and 5.3 rebounds per contest. He started in 34 contests and averaged a team-high 30 minutes per outing.

Initially recruited by Buzz Williams while at Virginia Tech, Radford elected to transfer to A&M following the 2020-21 season. A native of Baton Rouge, the 6-2 guard has been the driving force of A&M's backcourt the previous two seasons.

Radford hinted at the idea of returning for another year following the Aggies' first-round exit from the NCAA Tournament against Penn State. With his return, A&M will bring back roughly 85 percent of its offensive production, including first-team All-SEC guard Wade Taylor IV and rising senior Henry Coleman III.

Last season, Radford proved to be a difference-maker in SEC play, helping A&M pull off a massive 79-63 upset at then-No. 15 Auburn. He totaled an SEC career-best 30-points and finished with nine rebounds and two assists.

Radford is one of several players expected to make an impact in 2023. Along with Taylor and Coleman, the Aggies also return former Michigan State transfer Julius Marble for defensive production. A&M also added graduate transfer Eli Lawrence from Middle Tennessee State and junior Jace Carter from the University of Illinois-Chicago.

Last season, Lawrence averaged 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and shot 42.1 percent from the field as a member of the Blue Raiders. Carter, who will have two years of eligibility remaining, averaged 16.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest for UIC.

Four of the five top scorers for A&M are now expected to return, with senior forward Dexter Dennis being the only absence due to graduation.
