Recap: Richardson Runs A&M into Victory Against South Carolina

COLLEGE STATION - Although the focus would be on Isaiah Spiller heading into Saturday, it was the other running back that shined for Texas A&M. Sophomore Cordarrian Richardson became the focal point of the Aggies' offense during the team's 30-6 victory over South Carolina.

Richardson rushed for 130 yards on six carries, scoring a pair of touchdowns. During the fourth quarter, he'd break down the sideline for a 75-yard touchdown to seal the victory for A&M. Richardson would also catch a 17-yard touchdown pass from Kellen Mond to give the team a 10-3 lead during the second quarter.

The Aggies (7-3, 4-2 SEC) will finish their season at home with a victory heading into the final two weeks of the season. Although plenty of mistakes were made, the success of the second half Aggies kept A&M in the victory column.

Mond struggled in moments for the Aggies offense Saturday night. The junior would go 20 of 33 for 221 yards, scoring only one through the air. Early in the fourth following a 31-yard Richardson run, Mond would rush for a 1-yard touchdown. He'd finish with 47 yards on the ground.

Part of A&M's success relied in the short game. Sophomore kicker Seth Small would go 3 of 4 with a long for 45 yards. His only miss would come in the second quarter on a 42-yard attempt.

Once again, the emergence of Jalen Wydermyer played a significant role. The freshman tight end would lead the Aggies with five catches for 79 yards. During the second quarter, he'd break upfield for a 31-yard pickup, leading towards the Richardson touchdown.

The run game was prevalent, leading the charge for A&M offense inside the halls of Kyle Field. The team combined for a season-high 319 yards. Spiller would finish with 129 yards on 24 carries, averaging 5.9 yards per carry.

The Aggies will travel to Athens, Georgia to take on the No.4 Bulldogs next Saturday. South Carolina will have a bye week before facing No.3 Clemson to end the season.
