Aggies To Bring Three Players To SEC Media Days

Ainias Smith, Fadil Diggs and McKinnley Jackson are Nashville bound next week.

Jimbo Fisher is wheels up for Nashville, Tenn., next week to kick off SEC Media Days, and three Texas A&M players will join him as part of the Music City quartet.

Receiver Ainias Smith, defensive end Fadil Diggs and defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson will also partake in the festivities beginning Monday, July 17, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in downtown Nashville, the SEC announced Monday. The four-day event will run through July 20, with at least three teams represented each day at the podium.

Smith headlines the group as A&M's most experienced player. A four-year contributor, the fifth-year senior has played in 38 games since 2019 with 25 career starts. Many speculated last season would be his final year with the program, but a broken leg suffered against Arkansas in Week 4 changed his plans for going pro.

Both Diggs and Jackson have been staples in A&M's trenches since 2021. Last season, Diggs finished with a team-high three sacks and five tackles for loss in eight games. Jackson, who primarily has served as the Aggies' nose guard in run-heavy formation, registered 37 total tackles, seven tackles for loss and two sacks in eight starts.

Last season, the Aggies underwhelmed with a 5-7 record. Fisher, who enters a prove-it sixth season, made both personal and personnel changes to the roster, firing longtime offensive coordinator Darrell Dickey and hiring former Missouri State head coach Bobby Petrino

A veteran presence on the offensive line should do wonders for sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman's progress in Year 2. The Aggies return all five starting linemen, along with receivers Evan Stewart, Moose Muhammad III, and Noah Thomas. A&M also should have exceptional tight end play with the return of senior Max Wright and sophomores Donovan Green and Jake Johnson.

Fisher is scheduled to speak on the first day of media days, along with LSU coach Brian Kelly and Missouri coach Eliah Drinkwitz. The final predicted order, and preseason All-SEC teams will be announced after media days on July 21.
