Aggies Punter Braden Mann Signs with Eagles

Texas A&M Aggies punter Braden Mann has found a new home in the NFL.

Texas A&M Aggies punter Braden Mann has found a new home in the NFL. The Philadelphia Eagles announced Monday that they’ve signed Mann and released punter Arryn Siposs in a corresponding move.

In four years with the Aggies, Mann punted 109 times for for 5,329 total punt yards with an average of 48.9 yards per boot. His longest punt was an 82-yarder in 2018, the same year he won the SEC Special Teams Player of the Year and the Ray Guy Award, which is awarded to the nation’s best punter.

This collegiate success resulted in Mann being a 2020 sixth-round pick by the New York Jets. He’s played in 43 career NFL games.

Mann is now set to become the starting punter for Philly, the defending NFC champions. The Eagles lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl last season, 38-35. Philly had chances to win after holding 24-14 lead at halftime, but fell short in the second half.

At the start of the fourth quarter, a poor punt from Siposs resulted in Chiefs receiver Kadarius Toney returning the ball 65 yards to the Philly five-yard line. Kansas City scored a touchdown three plays later after a sequence that changed the outcome of the game.

Since then, there's been questions in Philly about whether or not Siposs was the guy. He was cut during original 53-man cutdowns before being brought back to begin the season.

But now, it's Mann who will get the chance to shine. He and the Eagles face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Aggies receiver Mike Evans on Monday at Raymond James Stadium.
