COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M is hoping to bring their success from 2018 over to the new season. While the offense should be in-tact, the defense will be without a projected starter when the season opens against Texas State.

A&M coach Jimbo Fisher announced at his Thursday press conference that junior cornerback Debione Renfro will sit out against the Bobcats due a violation of team rules.

"Debione right now, he won't play in this game," Fisher said. "Just a violation of team rules."

Renfro's suspension could last longer than just one game. Fisher did not comment on how long the suspension would take place. According to the initial depth chart posted Thursday afternoon, Refro did not appear to be on the list.

"We'll see as it goes," Fisher responded when asked on the length of the suspension.

Renfro has been a consistent starter for A&M over the past two seasons. Starting 11 games in each year, he recorded 37 tackles, five pass breakups and one sack during the 2018 campaign. Should he return this season, Renfro will be the Aggies' second-leading tackler from last season behind defensive lineman Justin Madubuike.

The Aggies are set to begin their season at Kyle Field on Thursday, Aug. 29.
