A new-look SEC is starting in July, as the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners enter the fold, just as a new era of college football begins with a 12-team playoff beginning this upcoming season.

The Texas A&M Aggies also have a new beginning after former defensive coordinator and Duke Blue Devils head coach takes over for the ousted Jimbo Fisher.

Conner Weigman

Thankfully for Elko, he's not starting from scratch. Returning from last season is quarterback Conner Weigman, who missed A&M's last eight games with an injury.  Weigman returns not just with a new head coach, but also a new offensive coordinator in Collin Klein.

AggiesWire ranked each quarterback in the SEC who will be leading his team into the new SEC, and Texas A&M's Weigman came in at No. 6.

"Coming off of a brutal season-ending foot injury, incoming junior quarterback Conner Weigman has already shown that he has what it takes to excel in the SEC, but in order for him to reach his full potential next season, It’s going to take better blocking on the O-line.

"Throwing for 979 yards (69 percent completion rate) and 8 touchdowns in just four games last season was just a taste of what’s to come."

Klein has been known to work wonders with quarterbacks during his time at Kansas State, and hopes in Aggieland are that he does the same with Weigman. Elko returns to College Station as head coach with full support from the players and fans and is setting himself up for success in his first season.
