Aggies Carry 'Miami Starts Tomorrow' Mindset vs. Hurricanes

The Texas A&M Aggies have the right mindset heading into their game against the Miami Hurricanes, and that started last immediately after their win against the New Mexico Lobos.

The Texas A&M Aggies are exhibiting confidence, urgency and showing great focus heading into their game against the Miami Hurricanes.

Texas A&M's athletics department carried on its "The Pulse" series that gave an inside glimpse into the football program's journey over the course of a season, releasing the first episode Wednesday. It looked into what led up to, what happened during and how the Aggies wrapped up their season-opening 52-10 win against the New Mexico Lobos Saturday.

No. 23 Texas A&M wasn't even out of the postgame locker room before it starting focusing on its matchup against the Hurricanes.

"Miami starts tomorrow," offensive lineman Layden Robinson said when breaking down the team huddle Saturday. "I don't care about nothing. Miami starts tomorrow. They start tomorrow. Let's get ready for this next week."

Despite the Aggies' 42-point win — their largest margin of victory in a season opener since 2018 — head coach Jimbo Fisher still found flaws in Texas A&M's game, pointing out the illegal substitution and personal foul penalties on the offense's and defense's first drives of the third quarter, respectively.

"That does not help us win," Fisher told the team in the locker room. "But guys, just keep playing with efficiency. This is a long season. Everybody's going to eat."

Fisher praised the Aggies' offensive explosiveness, scoring touchdowns on the first five drives, and how their defense got their "feet on the ground."

Fisher even set a timetable for how long the Aggies could enjoy the victory.

"This one's behind us," Fisher said. "We'll celebrate it tonight, but 24 hours from now, this game is over. We're getting ready for Miami in the next week. We got a heck of a road trip to go next week down to Miami."

While the Aggies seem to have the mental approach to their preparation this week down, it has yet to be seen if they'll put everything together on the field.

Texas A&M will go for the home-and-home series sweep against Miami at Hard Rock Stadium Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
