After a disappointing lackluster effort in a double-digit loss to the Miami Hurricanes in Week 2, Texas A&M is happy to see the college football calendar flip to Week 3. The Aggies will face the UL Monroe Warhawks at the friendly confines of Kyle Field in what has now become a must-win matchup if they are to salvage their 2023 season.

The Warhawks enter the week at 2-0 with wins to start the season over the Army Black Knights and Lamar Cardinals. UL Monroe features a stifling defense that has allowed just 13.5 points per game while its offense is dominating with more than 200 rushing yards per contest.

While this might seem like a lopsided matchup when looking at rosters, the Warhawks are no strangers to besting Power Five opponents. They beat Wake Forest in 2013 and 2014, Arkansas in 2012, and, of course, the famous win over the Crimson Tide in coach Nick Saban's first season in 2007.

If the Aggies can limit big plays from the Warhawks offense it should be able to take care of business easily. Splash plays allowed to the Miami Hurricanes' offense is partly what led to the A&M defeat. The Aggies' defense should also focus on slowing down the Warhawks' tandem running game of Hunter Smith and Isaiah Woullard.

The Warhawks, on the other hand, will need to create turnovers. Texas A&M turned it over twice last week against Miami, and the Hurricanes capitalized on both, scoring 10 points off the two turnovers.

Through two games, ULM has created seven turnovers and scored 17 points off of them. Linebackers Ja'Terious Evans, Austin Goffney and Max Harris and safety AJ Watts all have one interception, while defensive lineman Jaylan Ware and cornerback Car'lin Vigers and Lu Tillery have all recovered fumbles.

A&M is 4-0 all-time against UL Monroe, with an average score of 39-14. The Aggies will need to continue that trend in order to save an already sinking season.

The area around Kyle Field is expecting inclement weather and there could be a delay to the 3 p.m. CT kickoff.

"WEATHER UPDATE | A strong storm is approaching the @TAMU campus with lighting and high winds. Everyone is asked to seek safe shelter indoors from the storm. Those attending today's game can seek shelter inside Kyle Field for ticketed guests, the Memorial Student Center and Reed Arena’s North and East entrances. More updates to follow as we approach kickoff, which is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT."

The game should kick off at approximately 3:15 p.m. CT per officials, but now that has been moved to a 4 p.m. CT kickoff barring any further delays.
