Texas A&M Aggies Gain Commitment From Westlake QB Paxton Land

The Texas A&M Aggies picked up a big preferred walk-on commitment on Sunday afternoon.

The Texas A&M Aggies made a significant addition to their 2024 class on Sunday, with talented Westlake (Austin, TX) preferred walk-on quarterback, Paxton Land, committing to the program.

"Extremely blessed to accept a PWO to Texas A&M," Land said on Twitter. "All glory goes to Jesus, and I want to thank my parents and all of my coaches who have helped me to get to this spot!"

Land will come to College Station as the latest in a line of extremely successful past quarterbacks at Westlake, including Super Bowl champions Nick Foles and Drew Brees, former Texas Longhorns star Sam Ehlinger, and current Clemson starter, Cade Klubnik.

He was also able to sit and learn during part of his time with Westlake directly behind Klubnik, who led the Chaparrals to three straight state championships.

"It's pretty special to learn behind a generational quarterback like Cade," Land told AllAggies.com. "Just the quarterbacks that Westlake produced, he's up there with the greats. It was really special for me to learn under him."

Land, who has 27 passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns with just three interceptions in his career, already has the physical traits and talent to have a chance to be successful in the Aggies program, but he will also have some time to grow into that role.

The Aggies currently have a top talent at the position in former five-star quarterback Conner Weigman, who will be entering his third season by the time Land steps foot on campus in College Station.

But behind Weigman, things could be wide open for Land to earn his chance, with Marcel Reed, Anthony Maddox, and Miles O'Neil all also aiming to be the one to replace the sophomore.

Until then, Land will continue his quest toward bringing Westlake another Texas state championship.

And eventually, become the next Chapparal signal caller to take college football by storm.
