De'Von Achane was a star on the Aggies' offense for the past couple of years, and the Miami Dolphins took note. When they drafted Achane in the third round with the No. 84 overall pick, the general reaction was the same - even more speed to an already blisteringly fast Dolphins offense.

Miami did re-sign both of its free agent running backs, Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson, a duo that combined for 1,283 yards and six touchdowns. However, Achane is expected to add a new wrinkle to the mix for the Dolphins.

And that apparently appears to be the case early. On Tuesday morning, miamidolphins.com named Achane among standouts in early offseason workouts. Per the Dolphins' website, he was making easy work of yards from scrimmage as Achane described to be “was chewing up yardage.”

Achane rushed for 1,102 yards and eight touchdowns, but it is his 4.32 40-yard dash time that is most alluring about his fit with the Dolphins. Speed is already the name of the game for Miami with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Mostert all running 4.29, 4.37, and 4.32 40-yard dash times respectively.

Apparently, Achane has already added weight to his now-NFL frame, bulking up to 192 pounds. And now that he's also adding muscle, Achane and the Dolphins are clearly making strides within coach Mike McDaniel's offensive system.

Heading into the 2023 NFL Draft, analyst Mel Kiper Jr. stated Achane's game reflects a little bit of Darren Sproles' game.

“My comp for Achane? Darren Sproles," Kiper said. "That’s because Achane has a ton of value as a returner and in the passing game. He needs to hit his ceiling to be as productive as Sproles, of course, but he is my third-ranked back in this class.”

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel has not been subtle about his love of Achane and what he can bring to his offense, as he will likely come into an offense where he can contribute right away while also being a game-changer for Miami in the return game.
