The Texas A&M Aggies family has suffered a major loss, with longtime assistant coach and former player Terry Price passing away on Friday. He was 55 years old.

Price, who was serving as the Aggies' defensive ends coach at the time of his death, spent a total of 12 seasons as an assistant with the Aggies, including the last 11, after joining the staff in 2012.

Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher released a statement on Price's passing on Friday.

"Terry was not only a great Aggie, football coach and recruiter, he was an even better husband, father and man," Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher said in a statement. "The impact he had on this program and his players is immeasurable. Our football family has suffered an incredible loss."

"We will continue to hold Kenya and the boys in our thoughts and prayers."

Price also spent four years playing for the Aggies under legendary former Aggies coach RC Slocum from 1986-1989, helping the Aggies win a pair of Southwest Conference Titles in the process.

Price then went on to the NFL after being drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1990. After one season with Chicago, and another with the Miami Dolphins.

Following his NFL career, Price then returned to College Station, where he became an assistant on Slocum's staff.

"Terry was a great man," Slocum said to ESPN on Friday. "I have known him since he was a senior at Plano High School. He was a special player and coach, and will be missed by all that knew him."

Price is survived by his wife, Kenya, and sons Alexander and Devin.
