Aggies Land Commitment From Boston College Transfer Josh DeBerry

The Texas A&M Aggies wasted no time replacing Bobby Taylor in the secondary on Tuesday.

The Texas A&M Aggies roster turnover has remained in full swing, and on Tuesday, that continued in a big way, with former Boston College defensive back Josh DeBerry committing to the program. The news of DeBerry's commitment comes just hours after the Aggies lost 2022 four-star signee Bobby Taylor to the NCAA Transfer Portal.

DeBerry picked the Aggies over pursuit from multiple programs, including Wisconsin, Ole Miss and Arkansas. Ultimately, it was the Aggies that won out, in large part due to the confidence DeBerry had in the trajectory of the program.

”I’m looking to find a place that is competitive, looking to compete for conference and national championships, and play against the best,” DeBerry told 247 Sports last week. “I’m looking for the best fit for me as a player.”

DeBerry is now the sixth player to commit to the Aggies via the transfer portal for next season, as well as the third cornerback, alongside Tony Grimes and Sam McCall. However, the Aggies have also lost 20 players to the portal, including the aforementioned Taylor.

DeBerry was originally a three-star recruit out of De La Salle Collegiate School (Warren, MI), and committed to Boston College as part of the 2019 class. DeBerry was named an All-Acc performer three years in a row from 2020-22, finishing his career with Boston College with 158 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, one sack, four interceptions, and 15 passes defended.
