2025 WR Winston Watkins Decommits From Aggies

The Texas A&M Aggies just lost an electric 2025 recruit from Florida's IMG Academy

In the midst of an incredible finish to the 2022 recruiting cycle in College Station, Texas A&M's recruiting momentum had hit a new high.

Not only had they finished with the No. 1 recruiting class of all time, but the Aggies also landed a commitment from one of the top recruits in the 2025 class, in IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL) wide receiver Winston Watkins.

However, the Aggies recruiting momentum has seen a drop in recent weeks, and on Friday, it happened again, with Watkins de-committing from Texas A&M.

"First, I would like to especially thank coach Jimbo Fisher, coach Craig, and the Texas A&M coaching staff for being the first team to offer me," Watson said in a statement. "I appreciate the love from the wonderful Texas A&M alumni. After further discussions with my dad, I have decided to de-commit from Texas A&M and open up my recruitment. Texas A&M will always be in my top choices. Gig 'em!"

Watkins was the first commitment of the 2025 class for the Aggies.

The cousin of former Clemson star and NFL standout Sammy Watkins, Watkins Jr. saw action as a freshman on the IMG Academy local varsity team but did not travel with the team.

This season, that has changed, with Watkins playing in 8 games, grabbing 22 receptions for 378 yards and nine touchdowns, in an already stacked wide receiver corps.
