TCU Baseball: Horned Frogs Hit The Road To Take On ACU

The Horned Frogs are away for this week's midweek game as they take on Abilene Christian University.

Fresh off a conference series win against Texas Tech, the Horned Frogs hope to continue that momentum as they take on a much-improved Wildcats team in Abilene this week.

Mid-week games have been odd for the Horned Frogs this season, essentially treating them as resting time for everyday players in the lineup and bullpen games on the mound, and fans should expect much of the same this week. The best bet for the opening pitcher for TCU is Braedon Sloan, who has just over a six ERA in 18.1 innings pitched. As for the lineup, if the trend stays the same, we can see the likes of Jack Basseer, Payton Tolle, and Zach Wadas getting reps.

It will not be an easy opponent for the Horned Frogs, as Abilene Christian is 21-15 on the season and has played better baseball as the season has gone on. ACU will feature a two-headed monster in its lineup: Gino D'Alessio and Miller Ladusau, who are batting over .350 on the season and have one-third of the team's RBIs.

Outside of the starting weekend rotation, the Wildcats have yet to find arms they can depend on, with many of their secondary arms sporting ERAs over the five-run mark. Brett Garcia will be a name to keep an eye on as he has an ERA below four in just over 18 innings pitched and is holding his opponents to a .167 batting average.

This will be the second meeting between the two teams. TCU won the first one 4-0 on March 5th, thanks to home runs from Tolle and Brunson. The Two teams will meet on Tuesday, April 16th, at 6:05 p.m. in Abilene Texas
