TCU Rifle Earns Their 18th Straight Trip To The National Championships

After one of their best performances of the season, TCU Rifle will head to Morgantown in hopes of winning a title.

TCU Rifle has been hot in the second half of their season, and after dominating their last home match, they followed it up by tying their season-best at the NCAA Qualifiers.

All six of the Horned Frogs competing on the weekend placed in the top ten for the match, with Stephanie Grundsoee placing first with an aggregate score of 1191. Katie Zaun would finish right behind her with 1190, and Stephanie Allan (1186) and Nina Schuett (1184) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Jeanne Haverhill (1179) and Mikole Hogan (1170) would round out the top ten. 

TCU qualified for the NCAA Championship with the second-highest team average, scoring 9487.67. Their performance at Air Force in the qualifiers gave them the second-highest qualifying score with a 4746. 

The Rifle team boasts the second-highest aggregate average (4733.93) and smallbore average (2349.86) in the nation and leads the country in the air rifle marks (2384.07). 

The Horned Frogs have two of the top three national shooters in Grundsoee and Zaun, who rank second and third. Zaun is second in air rifle and third in smallbore, while Grundsoee is second in smallbore and third in air rifle. Stephanie Allan is also the only shooter in the nation to have fired a perfect mark in air rifle on the season. 

TCU will head to Morgantown, West Virginia, on March 8-9 and compete against Alaska, Kentucky, Air Force, Ole Miss, Navy, Nebraska, and West Virginia
