Breaking: Vols Star LB, Veteran OT enter Transfer Portal

According rj a report from Matt Zenits of Al.com, Henry To’o To’o and Jahmir Johnson have entered the transfer portal. To’o To’o’s departure is relatively unsurprising, while Johnson’s is, as he had a clear path to starting at left tackle with Wanya Morris’s departure. Below is the bio for each player at Tennessee.

Jeremy Pruitt, Derrick Ansley, Kevin Steele and Kevin Simon made a trip to To’oto’o’s house last Friday to talk with the linebacker about his future. Initial sources indicated the meeting had gone week but he continued to weigh his options.

To’oto’o: “The leader of Tennessee's defense and a talented playmaker who has the potential to be one of the top linebackers in the country ... Has played in 23 games and made 22 starts during his career ... Led the Vols with 76 tackles and 10 tackles for loss as a sophomore in 2020 ... Had one of the finest freshman seasons of any defensive player in the country in 2019, earning Freshman All-America honors from several organizations ... His 72 tackles in 2019 ranked second among SEC freshman and fourth among FBS freshman

Also entering the transfer portal is Tennessee offensive lineman Jahmir Johnson. Johnson was part of Jeremy Pruitt's first class at Tennessee, signing with the Vols in the first ever Early Signing Period. Johnson came to Tennessee from the Junior College ranks and started games at multiple offensive line positions throughout his time with the Vols. Johnson was one of Tennessee's most experienced and versatile linemen, having started games at four different positions on the offensive line. His departure will be sorely felt by that unit.
