Just In: Vols DL Emmit Gooden Charged With Felony Domestic Assault

After a season-ending knee injury, Emmit Gooden's 2019 season with Tennessee never got underway. Now, he faces another setback as a report has surfaced that Gooden has been arrested and charged with a felony domestic assault.
Gooden and his girlfriend were in an argument around 7:36 p.m. when Gooden hit her on the left side of the head with a glass jar candle, officials with KCSO said. She received sutures at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, according to officials.
A later report from Brent Hubbs of Volquest Rivals states Tennessee has dismissed Gooden from the team at this time.
Gooden would have factored in as a Day 1 starter for the Vols, as the defensive line position was a crucial spot in terms of depth heading into the fall.
