VR2 on SI has learned that Joe Osovet will not remain on Tennessee's staff moving forward. Osovet came to Knoxville as a member of Jeremy Pruitt's inaugural staff in 2018 in an off-field role. He moved to an on-field role this season working as Tennessee's tight end coach this past season.

Outside of Jay Graham, Osovet stood the best chance of being held over for Heupel's inaugural staff. Osovet interviewed for an open position at Central Florida with Heupel before he was announced as Tennessee's head coach.

Osovet had success on the recruiting trail during his first cycle, as his ties to the Northeast helped the Vols land Aaron Willis and KaTron Evans, his Junior College ties helped Tennessee sign Tiyon Evans, and he landed Miles Campbell and Trinity Bell at his position group.

Osovet was widely regarded as one of the top Junior College coaches in America before coming to Tennessee, and he is known as an offensive innovator with his work in the "Bolt Offense."

According to his contract, Osovet was slated to make $250,000 in 2021. Alex Golesh is likely to lead the Vols at the position group moving forward. He has been extremely successful at every stop, but no hire is official at this point.
