Just In: Former Vols Assistant Jay Graham Reportedly Out at Alabama

Jay Graham jumped from Tennessee to Alabama this off-season following the hire of Josh Heupel. The Vol legend stepped into the role of tight ends coach and special teams coordinator. However, it appears his stint in Tuscaloosa is over before it ever got started.

According to a report from Aaron Suttles of the Athletic, Graham is expected to be out at Alabama by the end of the week. The reason for his departure is unknown at this time.

Before Graham’s time at Tennessee, he was at Texas A&M, and he was served a six month show cause for recruiting violations related to impermissible contact with a prospective student- athlete. Graham was not fired with cause at Tennessee like other assistants, so it is unclear what leads to his departure at Alabama. One source has indicated, he chose to move on from Alabama on his own.

His departure to Tuscaloosa was not well received by the fan base in Knoxville, nor were his comments on social media about the Tide’s long standing winning streak over Tennessee.

"We are pleased to be able to add Jay Graham to our staff," Saban said last month. "Jay is well respected across the country for his knowledge of the game and his ability to recruit. He has experience at numerous schools across the SEC footprint with a proven track record for his ability to teach the game and develop young men both on the field and in life."

As more information becomes available, this report will be updated.
