Although Tennessee football just ended in January, practice season is about to take back off in full swing. Tennessee will start spring practices in less than a week, and the days will be headlined by many new additions. Here are our biggest notes heading into the first glimpse at the 2024 squad.
- Quarterback Nico Iamaleava will be the starter this season after spending his true freshman year soaking up Tennessee's system. He's got many national eyes and expectations on him, and this spring will be our first look at him leading the show.
- Running back Dylan Sampson will assume No. 1 running back duties for the first time in camp, as Jaylen Wright and Jabari Small declared for the NFL Draft. Sampson will be joined by Cameron Seldon, Peyton Lewis, and Khalifa Keith this year, but it's his show.
- Transfer additions such as Oregon State corner Jermod McCoy, Notre Dame tight end Holden Staes, and Tulane wide receiver Chris Brazzell will have a huge spotlight on them as they look to find fit in this Tennessee system. Many believe each transfer listed has a legitimate shot at starting, as each position group is losing at least one key member.
- Freshmen such as safety Boo Carter, wide receiver Mike Matthews, wide receiver Braylon Staley, and others will do everything they can to prove to this staff that they deserve an opportunity more than some other prospects.
- The corner group will also be a highlight position group to watch as they lose the majority of their players. Rickey Gibson is at the top of the high-expectations list.
