Vols Courting Dalton Knecht

Northern Colorado guard Dalton Knecht is getting a lot of interest from the Tennessee Volunteers during his stay in the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Over the weekend, Northern Colorado guard Dalton Knecht visited Knoxville in search of his next playing destination in his college career. Knecht is a very eye-opening prospect for lots of major college basketball programs. At 6-foot-6-inches, he is a big guy with a major handle. Hence is why Northern Colorado played him like a guard this past season.

Knecht had an incredible season. He was named to second-team all-conference in the Big Sky and averaged 20 points and 7 rebounds a game. He did this while also shooting 48% from the field. He led the Bears in both shooting percentage and points.

Knecht is such an attractive player in the portal due to his raw scoring ability. His size allows him to create space getting to the rim, becoming a threatening slasher. And once he gets comfortable, it becomes hard for him to miss.

He has piqued the interest of other major programs besides Tennessee, like Indiana, Oregon, North Carolina, and Arkansas. His physicality in scoring on offense also attracts head coach Rick Barnes. He has a history of guards with lots of size. Josiah-Jordan James was also 6-feet-6-inches tall, just like Knecht, and the Northern Colorado guard can play a role similar to James.

A player like this can help the Volunteers get some scoring production with many seniors leaving. Knecht has the frame to be a great to-the-rim scorer who can completely shift the Tennessee offense next season if he ends up on Rocky Top.
