Gideon Davidson Narrows Recruitment

2025 five-star running back Gideon Davidson cut his recruitment down to ten schools, and the Tennessee Volunteers are positioned well.

Tennessee has a stacked backfield, as evidenced by the spring game. While Jaylen Wright and Dylan Sampson are the two presumed starters, Cameron Seldon and DeSean Bishop performed well in lead-back duties. Head coach Josh Heupel is committed to continuing that depth moving forward and is recruiting other high-profile names to continue that tradition.

2025 five-star running back Gideon Davidson is a name to know. Davidson is a consensus top-60 player, though it is early in the cycle. The Virginia native stands 6-0 and 195 pounds; it's quite early in his recruitment, but he narrowed things down to ten schools recently.

Davidson will focus on Tennessee, Iowa State, Notre Dame, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Penn State, Colorado, and Oregon. He was in Knoxville for Tennessee's historic victory over Alabama, something that should be at the front of his mind as he continues along his process. The lengthy list of elite suitors should underscore how talented Davidson is; the best coaches and recruiters in America are knocking on his door.

The national hype hasn't caught up with Davidson - that's fine.

He spoke with On3 about deciding to trim down his list. Davidson is looking for a culture that fits him between coaching staff, development, playing time, and academics. He's going to take his time picking a school to call home, but Tennessee has made a strong impression.

"The RB coaches have stayed connected to me over the last year. I talked to Coach Heupel this week and love the high-tempo offense he is orchestrating. He also has been a part of national championships as a player and a coach." - Davidson to On3
