Tennessee Transfer Decision Could Decide Portal Winner, One Analyst Says

Tennessee Volunteers forward Olivier Nkamhoua is still in the NCAA transfer portal, and his decision could decide who brings home the No. 1 transfer portal class.

While the rumors have been circling for quite some time, where Olivier Nkamhoua ends up playing college basketball could be more important than many initially realized. While results next season will speak for himself, the winners of the off-season or the transfer portal rest on the shoulders of Nkamhoua.

Evan Miyakawa, a data scientist with a site focused on college basketball analytics, said that Nkamhoua choosing West Virginia would move them up to the number 1 transfer class in the country on his site Evanmiya.com. At one point, Nkamhoua was thought to be heading to Michigan or the pros, but the Mountaineers have come into the mix late, and it seems they have a legitimate shot.

Nkamhoua is set to visit Morgantown this weekend, while the visit to Michigan will come on June 2nd. Of course, he has already gone through the G League Elite Camp, and despite a good performance there, he didn't get the call-up to the NBA Draft Combine. Nkamhoua could still go through individual workouts with teams that invite him, but it seems he's focused on transferring right now. If Nkamhoua were to commit to Michigan, it would move them up from the 66th-best transfer class, according to Evanmiya.com, to the 22nd-best class. West Virginia currently sits 4th behind Florida at 1, followed by Kansas and LSU. Unless there is another visit we haven't heard about, Nkamhoua, in terms of transferring, is down to just the Mountaineers and the Wolverines. In both places, I would guess, he would be able to show off his offensive skillset way more than he did in Knoxville.
