Dayvion McKnight Garnering Interest From Tennessee, Other Major Programs

Western Kentucky guard Dayvion McKnight was a mid-major player this season. Now, he is looking to take his talents elsewhere, and the Tennessee Volunteers are interested.

At 6-foot-2-inches and 190 pounds, Dayvion McKnight is a bigger point guard who can control any game he is in. He led Western Kentucky in points this season, averaging 16.5 per game. He also led the team in assists and steals with 3.8 and 1.8 per game, respectively. He is top five in C-USA in scoring and top ten in assist and steal average in the conference too.

He statistically shoots the ball well too. He has a field goal percentage of 45.6% and a free throw percentage of 84.1%. He is top five in C-USA for field goal percentage. He also rebounds at a high rate averaging 5.0 a game, a high rate for a guard.

Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes is also well-known for loving players who are tough on the glass, and McKnight fits the bill. He was named second-team all-conference this season too.

Despite all of the solo talent on display, WKU finished 17-16 (8-12 C-USA) this season and finished in the middle of the pack in the standings. Their season ended with a loss to Florida Atlantic in the quarterfinal round of the conference tournament.

The junior guard finished the year on a high note with 18 points and four rebounds in what could be his last game in a Hilltopper uniform.

McKnight wants to explore options elsewhere where he can win as his college career starts to end. He announced his entrance into the portal on Tuesday, March 21st.

The schools that have contacted him include Tennessee, Kansas, LSU, Memphis, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, etc. The size and court presence he carries impresses major D1 schools. McKnight is a tempo controller and will continue to be wherever he ends up.
