NBA Summer League Game Features Trifecta of Former Vols

The Philadelphia 76ers faced off against the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday in an NBA Summer League matchup featuring three former Tennessee Volunteers.

The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Philadelphia 76ers by a score of 99-98 on Thursday in NBA 2K24 Summer League play from Las Vegas. This was not just any other game, though. It was a great opportunity for three Tennessee Volunteers to showcase their skills. For Atlanta, it was Yves Pons and Uros Plavsic, and for Philadelphia, it was Jaden Springer. Starting with the victorious Hawks, this was a game of great interest in what style Plavsic would bring to the table.

On Wednesday, we saw the big man make his first three-pointer in a live game on television, and the question was whether he would try another one on Thursday. The answer to that question was yes. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful in his only attempt from downtown, but the attempt shows continuing comfort from that area. He did his best work inside en route to four points and eight rebounds, but he could be seen standing on the perimeter as a floor spacer. This will be something to continue to monitor going forward.

As for Yves Pons, who did not see the floor on Wednesday, he did not see much action. In fact, he played the least minutes of any Hawk who saw the floor. Still, he went 1-for-2 and grabbed a couple of rebounds. Switching over to Philadelphia, Jaden Springer was one of the focal points for the 76ers. He led the team in minutes and performed well. He went 8-for-16 from the floor, including 2-for-5 from 3-point territory. He was a perfect 11-for-11 on his free throws, too. He added three rebounds, two assists and a steal, and even with the ball in his hands so often, he had just one turnover. Overall, there were positives from both teams and all three Vols as the Summer League winds down.
