Uros Plavsic Flashes In NBA Summer League

Former Tennessee Volunteers forward Uros Plavisc made his NBA Summer League debut on Wednesday with the Atlanta Hawks and flashed some offensive upside.

With no minutes from AJ Griffin, Brady Manek, and former Volunteer Yves Pons, the Atlanta Hawks had some extra minutes up for grabs in their rotation for their Summer League contest against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. One of the beneficiaries was former Tennessee big man Uros Plavsic

The big man made his NBA Summer League debut and fared very well. He played a total of 17 minutes, putting up seven points. He also grabbed two boards and recorded a steal. The seven points came from 3-of-4 shooting with no free throws. This means one thing: Plavsic made a three-pointer. In his time at Tennessee, the Serbian attempted just one three (missed). This came in November 2021 in the 17-point win over North Carolina. Have we found ourselves a new Uros Plavsic?

It is far too early to tell if this is something that Plavsic has added to his game, but it is not outside the realm of possibility. We often see players, especially big men, change their games between college and the NBA or whatever professional league they aspire to play in. Even 7-footers like Plavsic often need to be able to space the floor. The successful three-point attempt looked very smooth. He took it with confidence and conviction. This is something to monitor as the Hawks’ summer league campaign continues, with Plavsic’s next opportunity to drain one from downtown coming Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Eastern against Jaden Springer and the Philadelphia 76ers.
