Four-Star LB Chris Cole Releases Top Eight Ahead of Tennessee Visit

In this story:
The Tennessee Volunteers stopped by Salem High School in Virginia quite often this past year. They aggressively targeted 2024 four-star running back Peyton Lewis, who committed during the May 865 Live Event. That's already a strong haul from one high school program, but the Vols have their eyes set on one of Lewis's teammates, four-star linebacker Chris Cole.
Cole made the 250-mile trek from Salem, Virginia, to Knoxville earlier this year, getting his first look at the program. He's set for a return trip at the end of July for a recruiting trip at Tennessee, but he handled some business before making the trip. Cole is now down to eight schools moving forward: Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee, USC, and Virginia Tech. The in-state Hokies are a big player in this one, as Cole has been to campus four times in 2023 alone.
He made four official visits to Georgia, Miami, Penn State, and Virginia Tech this summer, but this one isn't over. Cole is one of the top defenders in the cycle, standing 6-3 and 210 pounds. He's got a tweener, hybrid size that could fit at outside linebacker or safety in college, but the likely scenario is that Cole plays all over the middle of the field in various defensive packages. Tennessee wants to become a player for him, beginning at the end of the summer.
