Deuce Knight Details Summer Plans

2025 four-star quarterback Deuce Knight has big plans for the summer, including stopping by Knoxville to see the Tennessee Volunteers.

The 2025 quarterback class is shaping up to be another star-studded group, and the Tennessee Volunteers are heavily involved. They have several targets on their board, and four-star Mississippi quarterback Deuce Knight is one of them. Knight became a national recruit in the media's eyes this offseason, but college staffs have been aware of him and building relationships for close to a year.

Knight spoke with Volunteer Country about what the summer holds for him. He's planned trips to Tennessee on June 2 and LSU on June 7 but plans to schedule more in the coming weeks. Knight hopes to see Georgia, TCU, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss this offseason. He mentioned the schools recruiting him the hardest are Tennessee, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, and TCU, and all ensure they communicate with him multiple times a week. The Vols have hosted him on three visits, second to only Ole Miss, who has had him four times. When speaking about Tennessee, Knight gave a laundry list of reasons why he enjoys their program. "The relationships I’ve built with the staff, Coach [Josh] Heupel's background with quarterbacks, Knoxville in general, and the explosive offense."

While he's a ways away from signing a letter of intent, Knight confirmed he wants to make an early decision, though he's in no rush. He will know when the time is right, but for now, he's testing the waters with each program.

"I do want to commit early; I just don’t think I have a timeline. It might be tomorrow, or it might be months from now, just really whenever I feel ready to call a place home."

Tennessee offensive coordinator Joey Halzle stopped by George County High School this spring to see Knight throw. Knight stands 6-4.5 and 180 pounds with elite short-area quickness at the quarterback position. He's evasive when defenders get close and has developed a smooth release that lets him throw off many platforms. When the time comes, Knight remains steadfast that he will know. He has a detailed list of things he's looking for in a program. "Relationships. How I fit into the scheme, how I feel I can be developed there, and a family-like feel to the staff and place."
