In this story:

Deuce Knight quickly became a household name in Tennessee. The talented Mississippi gunslinger drew the early attention of Tennessee's coaching staff - they offered him after his freshman year of high school and have been recruiting him since. The Vols were one of his first real believers, and Knight began to form a connection with the program and fans.

Things went to another level when Knight announced his transfer to Lipscomb Academy a few weeks before the season opener. Lipscomb is defending two consecutive state championships and producing some of the state's best talent. Knight was appointed as the captain for the offense, a blue-chip quarterback who could come in and aid the Mustangs in their pursuit of a third straight title.

Knight moved from Lucedale, Mississippi, to Nashville, Tennessee, and started three games with Lipscomb. He went 1-2 in those appearances, and it was clear the transition was difficult. It's a tough turnaround to move states, learn an offense in a week, and then go play against Power-5 competition.

The talented flashed during his starts, and Knight's ceiling is evident, but he won't reach it at Lipscomb. The 6-foot-4.5 passer announced his intentions to transfer this week. No final destination has been set, but Knight must work quickly to find a squad to get more reps in a starting role. He didn't get many drop back reps during his first two years of high school and is just now finding a consistent rhythm as a drop back passer.
