Early national signing day is upon us, and the Tennessee Volunteers are hoping to finish strong. They've recruited at a high rate under head coach Josh Heupel and brought in some major difference-makers in their 2023 signing class. Volunteer Country will provide readers with an in-depth breakdown of each signee.

Defensive end Kellen Lindstrom is the eighth commit to turn in their national letter of intent. He is the No. 346 player in the cycle, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Take a look at what the Vols are getting.

Prospect: Kellen Lindstrom

Projected Position: Weakside Defensive End

Vitals: 6-5 and 235 pounds

School: Glendale High School (Springfield, Missouri)

Frame: Likely needs to add weight to become a rotational pass-rusher in the SEC. Has the burst and movement skills to win, but Lindstrom's ideal weight should be around 250-260 pounds. Has long arms that he uses to win, and when he fully extends offensive tackles have a tough time latching.

Athleticism: Elite burst off the line of scrimmage. Lindstrom moves concisely yet violently; he tends to win his reps by bending the corner better than his matchup, as they don't have the lateral agility to get as low as Lindstrom. Can legitimately win as a 7-technique with a speed rush.

Instincts: Has good "quick-twitch" and can counter offensive tackles getting their hands on him. The next evolution of his game will be adding more moves to his pass-rush arsenal in a timely manner that he can instinctively revert to when his assignment manages to win the initial part of the rep.

Polish: Still has a little work to do with his frame and pass-rush skillset, but I like where his burst and understanding of the game are. Lindstrom is a really good athlete that understands the game of football, a combination that will serve him well when he arrives on campus.

Bottom Line: Another strong addition for defensive line coach Rodney Garner. Lindstrom put together impressive senior film and has continually improved throughout his high school career. Could be a high-sack guy for the Vols in a few years if his development track continues.
