Mike Matthews's Recruitment Beginning To Heat Up With Major SEC Powers

In this story:
Major programs have been recruiting five-star Mike Matthews since he was a freshman in high school. The talent was obvious since he stepped onto the field at Parkview High School, but he has kept his recruitment relatively quiet leading up to this summer. Naturally, things are beginning to heat up the summer before his senior season.
Matthews confirmed four official visits with On3. He's set to see big names in the month of June after a productive spring with Parkview. He has one official left to schedule, which he may do, but he also may not. Matthews will keep things close to the vest as long as he can, but I'd imagine we will begin to hear more murmurs after his summer slate.
- Clemson: June 2
- Georgia: June 9
- USC: June 17
- Tennessee: June 23
247Sports Director of Scouting Steve Wiltfong shared that Tennessee is "a program to keep an eye on." The Vols and head coach Josh Heupel have done a strong job pitching Matthews on his potential at wideout in the Tennessee offense. He has run a complete route tree in high school and is accustomed to playing Power-5 competition after spending four years in the bright lights of Georgia high school football.
However, the Vols aren't the only team making noise. Five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola committed to Georgia this week, and sources indicate he plans to bring several big-time players to Athens. Raiola is one of the best quarterback prospects we've had this side of 2010, and Matthews is keeping an eye on things. He told On3's Jeremy Johnson that Raiola's commitment "does play a big part in how I see Georgia." The in-state Bulldogs have been enticing Matthews for years, and they aren't done making waves.
