Three-Star OG Ronan O'Connell Commits To Clemson Over Tennessee, Wisconsin

2024 three-star offensive guard Ronan O'Connell committed to Clemson over the Tennessee Volunteers and Wisconsin on Tuesday afternoon.

July is always an essential month on the recruiting calendar for college coaching staffs. They spend June running around on official visits, working on final pitches for prospects before these kids head home and wind down their recruitments. Three-star offensive guard Ronan O'Connell (Franklin, Tenn.) is the first in a string of Tennessee targets to announce his college decision this week.

O'Connell was down to Clemson, Tennessee, and Wisconsin in the leadup to his decision, but it really was a two-horse race between Tennessee and Clemson. The Vols got O'Connell on campus more than any other program did, but the summer months made it clear that Clemson would come away with O'Connell's services. Tennessee is still waiting on several other high-priority targets on the offensive line, and the Tigers pushed hard for him on his official visit.

The Vols have three offensive linemen already committed in 2024: four-star offensive guard Max Anderson (Frisco, Tx.), four-star offensive linemen Gage Ginther (Fort Collins, Colo.), and three-star offensive guard Jesse Perry (Murfreesboro, Tenn.). They intend to take at least two more offensive linemen in the class, preferably three. They are still actively recruiting four-star offensive tackle Bennett Warren (Sugar Land, Tx.), four-star offensive tackle Daniel Calhoun (Marietta, Ga.), and four-star offensive guard William Satterwhite (Akron, Oh.). Calhoun and Satterwhite come off the board later this week, while Warren hasn't set an announcement date yet.
