Tennessee a "Very Legitimate Contender" For Josh Petty
2025 five-star offensive tackle Josh Petty (Roswell, Ga.) has a host of schools at the top of his recruitment, including the Tennessee Volunteers.
Fellowship Christian School offensive tackle Josh Petty is one of the hottest commodities on the market. He commands 40 offers and has had the eyes of Tennessee's coaching staff for upwards of six months. They began recruiting him seriously after his sophomore season and are still among the top contenders for him.
Petty had previously scheduled a litany of spring visits that didn't include a stop in Knoxville, Tennessee. That could have been alarming to some, but Petty's process is far from over. On3's Chad Simmons reported that Petty hopes to take upward of a half-dozen unofficial visits in the spring and isn't married to a summer commitment date.
247Sports' Tom Loy updated where things stand with several top prospects, including Petty. While the No. 24 prospect in the 2025 class doesn't have anything lined up with the Vols, Loy sees them as a top figure in this recruitment alongside other national powers.
"He's got a big, big march ahead and a lot of visits. He's got Clemson, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Auburn and Florida State on the schedule. He's got some ties with Georgia Tech. They're a dark horse. I'm also watching Clemson and Tennessee. Tennessee is a very legitimate contender. He grew up a Volunteers fan. Clemson and Dabo Swinney are doing a phenomenal job.
