2025 Five-Star OT Josh Petty Visiting Knoxville

2025 five-star offensive tackle Josh Petty announced that he will visit the Tennessee Volunteers this weekend.

In this story:

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel needs blue-chip offensive linemen to execute his scheme, especially in the SEC. His entire mantra is creating a comfortable environment for quarterbacks where they can play fast and loose, but if you don't have a clean pocket, then there's no chance that Heupel's offense reaches its ceiling. Therefore, he continues prioritizing the offensive line on the recruiting trail.

The Vols have two offensive line commits in the 2024 class and are hosting, at minimum, four offensive linemen on official visits over the summer. They aren't stopping at the 2024 class, though. On Friday evening, 2025 five-star offensive tackle Josh Petty announced that he would be traveling to the University of Tennessee on Saturday morning to see the Volunteers during their "865 Live Event" during Memorial Day weekend. The Georgia native returned from an Auburn unofficial visit on Friday and is quickly turning around to see another SEC power. Petty was recently in Knoxville on April 14 and wanted to get back to get another look at Tennessee.

Petty plays for Fellowship Christian School in Roswell, Georgia. He stands 6-5 and 260 pounds. While his size doesn't yet match that of an SEC tackle, Petty plays with the strength and nastiness that few young tackles do. You can see his desire to win his assignment each time he steps onto the line of scrimmage. Petty still has a great deal of athleticism and looks like he has a lot of weight to put on. He carries 260 pounds like it's 215 pounds - the more weight he can put on, the more dominant this football player could become.
