Tennessee Still Fighting For Daniel Calhoun

Walton High School hit the field for spring practice and are getting many Power-5 visits. The Tennessee Volunteers have been to see four-star offensive lineman Daniel Calhoun.

Four-star offensive lineman Daniel Calhoun has a lot of attention on him this spring. Major suitors are calling and stopping by Walton High School to get a glimpse of the talented tackle who projects to guard in college. He has several official visits lined up over the summer, entailing trips to Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas.

Calhoun plans to add a fifth official visit, and several schools are trending for that opportunity. However, his top two suitors are and have been Georgia and Alabama. He's developed sound relationships with both coaching staffs and recognizes their ability to develop NFL-caliber offensive linemen. Tennessee was on the outside looking in for Calhoun's services, and while they are still not in that top two range, they are positioned well heading into the summer months.

Head coach Josh Heupel believes he can recruit anyone to attend the University of Tennessee if he gets them on campus. The Knoxville atmosphere has provided a strong infrastructure for Tennessee recruiting for years, and when the team is rolling, the vibe around the university is high. Calhoun speaks with multiple media outlets after each visit and repeatedly emphasizes how enamored he is with Knoxville.

At the end of the day, he understands football is about to become a business. Calhoun has professional size at 6-6.5 and 360 pounds, with the technique and athleticism to become a high-level player. Alabama and Georgia have strong pitches focused on recent offensive line development. Tennessee offensive tackle Darnell Wright was drafted at No. 10 overall by the Chicago Bears, but the Vols still must prove that wasn't a flash in the pan to recruits.
