247Sports Director of Recruiting Says Vols Are The "One To Beat" For Five-Star DE Jordan Ross

247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong shared that the Tennessee Volunteers are trending for five-star defensive Jordan Ross, who is in on an official visit this weekend.

The Tennessee Volunteers have been recruiting 2024 five-star defensive end Jordan Ross for a long time. They zeroed in on him early in the process and made him a top priority. Defensive line coach Rodney Garner has done an excellent job of building a relationship with him, and Ross gives glowing reviews of Knoxville every time he comes through town.

Tennessee was the No. 1 contender for Ross for a long time, but after his recent official visits to Georgia and Florida, there were murmurs that Ross may be trending elsewhere. He stops by for his Tennessee official visit this weekend, and big news surfaced before his arrival.

247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong previewed the recruiting weekend for Tennessee on his show, which you can watch here. He shared that he believes Tennessee is the leader for Ross before the visit. "When he visited Georgia a couple of weekends ago, we talked about how we thought the Bulldogs had made a major move. I do think that at the moment of that visit, Georgia was very exciting, but I think since the dust has settled, and in talking to him after the Georgia visit, he told me that Tennessee was the one to beat. I know Florida is still very much in it, he was at Texas this past weekend, but Tennessee has been one of his favorites for his entire process."
