The No. 9 Texas Tech Red Raiders (32-16, 11-7 Big 12) baseball team travels north to Stillwater, Oklahoma to take on the No. 3 Oklahoma State Cowboys (34-14, 13-5 Big 12) in a weekend series with Big 12 regular-season championship implications beginning Friday from O'Brate Stadium.

The Red Raiders will play inside O'Brate stadium for the first time since its opening in 2021, as this is Texas Tech's first visit to Stillwater since 2018.

There are just six games remaining on the regular-season schedule, and the Red Raiders control their own destiny in their pursuit of a fourth Big 12 title for the program since 2016.

The current Big 12 leader is Oklahoma State, which also controls its own destiny. If Tech loses just one game, TCU owns the tiebreaker over the Red Raiders by virtue of a three-game sweep last month.

While the Longhorns' Ivan Melendez leads the Big 12 in RBIs, Tech's 3-4-5 hitters rank 2-3-4 in the conference in that category. Kurt Wilson leads the team with 59, followed by Jace Jung and Ty Coleman each with 50.

Wilson entered the 2022 season with 45 RBIs, while teammate Parker Kelly's production spiked, as he entered 2022 with 17 RBIs, and owns 44 after 48 games this season.

The Cowboys has their seven-game winning streak broken the last time out against Dallas Baptist in an 8-7 loss, capped off by a walk-off homer by DBU.

Start times and projected pitching matchups are as follows:

  • Friday, May 13, 6 p.m.: RHP (6-0, 3.44 ERA) Andrew Morris vs. RHP Justin Campbell (7-1, 2.91 ERA)
  • Saturday, May 14, 6 p.m.: RHP (7-2, 2.07 ERA) Brandon Birdsell vs. RHP Bryce Osmond (4-1, 4.47 ERA)
  • Sunday, May 15, 1 p.m.: TBA vs. TBA
