Texas Blanks Cal Poly 6-0, Clinches Series Win: Live Game Log
The Texas Longhorns (4-1) found themselves locked into a fierce pitcher's duel on Friday evening to open their weekend series against the Cal Poly Mustangs (2-3). Fortunately for the boys in burnt orange and white, their staff ace won that duel.
Lebarron Johnson Jr. took the mound for his second start of the young season and delivered a remarkable performance. He kept the Mustangs' hitters off-balance all night long, mixing pitches expertly to work around baserunners. Ultimately, he twirled eight innings of shutout baseball while racking up eight strikeouts.
At the plate the duo of Jared Thomas and Peyton Powell came up big once again, each responsible for one of Texas' two runs. Now, the Longhorns turn their attention to Saturday afternoon as they look for their fourth straight win and second series win of the season.
