No. 24 Texas Blasts No. 17 Texas Tech 22-8 in Series Opener: Live Game Log
It's hard to define a game, let alone an entire series, as a must-win this early into the season. However, that may very well be the case for the No. 24 Texas Longhorns' (7-5) opening conference series against the No. 17 Texas Tech Red Raiders (10-2).
They enter their first series of Big 12 play riding a rough four-game losing streak, which feels even worse knowing that at least two of those games should have been wins. Now, though, all they can do is look forward and try to get back on track on Friday night.
The potential is undeniably there for this Texas squad but it has yet to put it together against stiff competition. When the bats are clicking and mashing, the pitching staff has been able to string together successful innings. On the flip side, the bats have gone cold when the pitching has dominated.
If they can figure both those situations out on Friday night then they have a good chance of taking the series opener and preventing the losing skid from extending even further.
