WATCH: Texas Longhorns Wild Trick Play Leads to Second TD vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys in Big 12 Championship

The Texas Longhorns are looking to make a statement in the Big 12 Championship against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The best word to describe Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers through the first quarter of the Big 12 Championship game, is perfect.

The Longhorn signal caller, who according to reports, is expected to return for his third year in Austin next year is off to a great start. After opening the game with a touchdown pass to Adonai Mitchell from 10 yards out, Ewers and the Longhorns only needed four plays on their following drive to extend that lead to 14-0.

Ewers again connected with one of his elite pass catchers, this time connecting with Ja'Tavion Sanders from 24 yards out on a tricky play call by Steve Sarkisian.

The Longhorns faked the reverse but ended up pitching it back to Ewers who delivered a perfect pass to a wide-open Sanders.

The Longhorn lead didn't stay at 14 for long as Oklahoma State drove down the field, going 75 yards in eight plays, and ended up scoring a touchdown thanks to an Alan Bowman touchdown pass. Texas is still up 14-7, and while their defense gave up the score it is evident that the offense is firing on all cylinders on Saturday.

A win for Texas gives them a legitimate shot to make the College Football Playoff, as they were helped out in a major way on Friday night when Washington knocked off Oregon. The Ducks were viewed as the best one-loss team in the country before Friday, but now there is just one team with one-loss ranked ahead of Texas in Ohio State, who is not playing for a conference title on Saturday.
