Longhorns Land Virginia Transfer Kadin Shedrick

In this story:
AUSTIN, Texas -- Rodney Terry finally has his first transfer commitment as head coach of the Texas Longhorns.
Virginia transfer forward Kadin Shedrick has committed to Texas, he said Sunday during a live broadcast with The Field of 68. Shedrick made a recent visit to the Forty Acres. The 6-11 big man was also considering Duke, Missouri and Xavier. He still has two years left of eligibility.
"At the end of the day, I just went with my gut," Shedrick said on The Field of 68. "Texas has had a significant history with bigs, getting them to the next level. ... I just thought it was a better opportunity for me."
Shedrick said his "trust" in Terry was a reason that set Texas apart from the other programs he was considering.
“I chose Texas because I trust the vision that Coach Terry has for me,” Shedrick told On3. “I’m looking forward to play in a free offense while still playing defense at a high level. I feel like I can show more of what I can do on both ends of the floor at Texas.”
The news comes just hours after Texas forward Dylan Disu announced he would be returning for his final season. The Longhorns suddenly have a strong and versatile front court after beginning the offseason with tons of uncertainty in that regard.
"I'm really looking forward to the opportunity of playing alongside him," Shedrick said of Disu.
Shedrick averaged 6.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 blocks this past season. He didn't post the most insane scoring numbers, but his impact went far beyond the offensive stats. At 6-11, 231, he's got impressive size and length that helps him provide high-energy play as a big man on both ends. He had nine games with at least two blocks and five games with at least four blocks during the season.
