KANSAS CITY, MO. - Texas Longhorns guard Sir'Jabari Rice, still processing the heart-breaking 88-81 loss to the Miami Hurricanes at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City on Sunday, was at even greater disbelief that interim coach Rodney Terry still hadn't been named the full-time head coach of the program.

"I don't understand why he doesn't have the coaching job yet, that's something you can put in your article," Rice said.

His confusion can now rest a bit easier.

The University of Texas is reportedly set to offer Terry the full-time job as head coach, per reports Sunday evening from Horns247. An official announcement from the university could come as soon as Tuesday, per the report.

The news comes just hours after Texas players were pouring their hearts out to Terry when speaking to reporters in the locker room following the loss.

Longhorns forward Dillon Mitchell, who could return to the team next season, made it clear how he feels about Terry.

"He's our head coach," Mitchell said. "No matter what his title is, he's our head coach forever. He forever will be our head coach. He should be given everything. ... RT deserves everything."

Longhorns forward Timmy Allen, along with Rice, won't be returning to Texas next season to potentially see Terry take over the program, but their emotion-filled words spoke volumes about what he meant to the team this season.

"The love that he's shown us has taken us further than the X's and O's," Allen said.

The Longhorns' magical season ended in heartbreak, but a new regime under Terry could soon be under way if - but most likely when - he officially accepts the job offer.
