Longhorns Transfer Rowan Brumbaugh Commits to Georgetown

In this story:
AUSTIN, Texas - News broke Friday that Texas Longhorns freshman guard Rowan Brumbaugh would transfer from the program.
It apparently didn't take long for him to come to a decision.
Brumbaugh will transfer to the Big East to play for the Georgetown Hoyas and coach Ed Cooley, per reports Monday from On3. The news came just under an hour after it was reported that Texas guard Arterio Morris would be entering the transfer portal.
A historically successful Georgetown program has hit rock bottom over the last two years under the legendary Patrick Ewing, who failed to meet expectations as head coach. The team accumulated a combined 13-50 record over the past two seasons.
But Brumbaugh, who is a native of Washington D.C., will now return to his hometown.
Recruited by former Longhorns coach Chris Beard, Brumbaugh was a part of Texas' 2022 recruiting class, which was headlined by five-star standouts Dillon Mitchell and Arterio Morris along with three-star forward Alex Anamekwe.
A four-star guard out of Northfield Mount Hermon (Massachusetts), Brumbaugh never played a minute during his time Texas after electing to redshirt this past season. He was potentially set to receive an increased role next season, but it's possible the coaching change played a factor in his decision to transfer.
Upon signing to Texas, he had said that Beard played a major factor in his decision.
"I always liked his mentality, fight, and winning culture," Brumbaugh said. "I always wanted to be apart of something like that. Most coaches I talked to didn't focus on the hard work ... but Coach Beard did ... that was a deciding factor for me. Talking to him feels like I'm talking to an older version of myself."
But with Beard now gone, Brumbaugh is too, as the roster looks like a shell of what it was expected to be headed into Beard's second season.
