Longhorns Held to Season-Low Scoring Mark in Blowout Loss to No. 3 Houston

In this story:
The Texas Longhorns took arguably the best team in the country to overtime in Austin last month before a heartbreaking loss.
But on Saturday at the Fertitta Center, the Houston Cougars weren't going to allow any late-game thrills this time around.
No. 3 Houston got a game-high 26 points from guard L.J. Cryer and the Cougars (22-3, 9-3 Big 12) used a big second half to hold Texas to a season-low scoring mark in an 82-61 wire-to-wire win.
Incredibly, Houston guard Jamal Shead flirted with a quadruple-double, finishing with 16 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, six steals and two blocks. Emanuel Sharp added 15 points of his own.
The Longhorns got a team-high 16 points and seven rebounds from Dylan Disu while guard Chendall Weaver added 11 points and four rebounds. Texas guard Max Abmas was held to a season-low seven points on 2 of 14 shooting.
Texas' previous season-low scoring mark was 65 twice in losses to then-No. 8 Marquette and then-No. 14 Iowa State. On Saturday, the Longhorns shot just 38.6 percent from the field, committed 14 turnovers, and were out-rebounded 45-34 in a game in which they never led.

The Longhorns got warm from deep early on, as Abmas, Tyrese Hunter and Disu each had triples midway through the first half. The game was tied at 17 with 11:03 to play in the first half, but the margin never got back to this point for the rest of the game.
Houston led 40-27 headed into halftime. Coming out of the locker room, Shead, Cryer and Co. quickly turned things into a blowout and never looked back.
Texas will host Kansas State at the Moody Center on Monday night.
